The runs are all indoors, and the dogs are rotated in and out constantly throughout the day. Our larger guests sleep in generous air-conditioned indoor runs with attached outdoor patios. The runs are a very generous 5′ x 6′ on the inside, and their outside patio portion is 5′ x 8′ feet. Dogs go in and out via a doggie door, that keeps the air-conditioned air in and the hot air outside. Additionally, every dog gets a cot/hammock type bed so they don’t have to sleep on the floor.

If you’re not feeling well or are in pain, a calm dog who can lie on the bed with you may be a better choice. Therapy dogs can bring comfort to people being treated for cancer, and they may help them get better, too. Adults should supervise and be extra cautious when children younger than 5 years old have direct contact with farm animals, including animals at petting zoos and fairs. People who are pregnant should avoid adopting a new cat or handling stray cats, especially kittens. Cats can carry a parasite that causes toxoplasmosis—a disease that can cause birth defects. If you are pregnant, you do not need to give up your current cat, but you should avoid handling cat litter. They can increase opportunities to exercise, get outside, and socialize.
More on Pet Insurance
Currently, both Castle Valley Animal Rescue and Carbon Cat Rescue are foster based. That means all of our animals are in temporary homes with a foster. While this is a great place for the animals to stay while they wait for their new homes, it limits the rescues ability to take in new animals. We can only pull as many animals as we have fosters for. Since fostering can be a long and difficult commitment, it can be very hard to find foster homes.
However, if they want to sleep on the floor, and lots of dogs do, we pull out the bed to give them more room. Boarding drop off and pick up times are between 9 am-4 pm every day. We can typically accommodate requests outside of these hours for a small fee. The APSCA estimates that the first year of owning a dog can cost as much as $2,000 or more, depending on the size of the animal. Meanwhile, the cost of owning a cat can cost up to $1,174 on average. Your cat ingests a foreign object and needs surgery, which costs $3,400. Your pet suffers an injury and you take them to the vet for medical treatment.
Again, these prices may vary depending on where you live, what type of animal you have, what breed you have, and their health history. According to the ASPCA, recurring medical expenses for a dog can range from $210 to $260 depending on their size.
What to Expect From a Visit to the Vet
This minimizes the chances of the pet being returned to you, winding up at a shelter, or being abused or neglected. If either cat is positive for one of these diseases placing them together is disastrous. If a rescued cat is FIV or FILV positive, place it with another known cat with the same disease.
